Kia Ora!
I’m Daniel, I am a third-generation kiwifruit grower. I grew up on my family’s kiwifruit orchard near the town of Katikati in the Western Bay of Plenty.
After gaining my Bachelor of Science in Geology at the University of Canterbury. I am proud to now be working with my family on the orchard as we rise to the challenge of producing the world’s best kiwifruit.
I am passionate about caring for our soil, plants, water, animal and human ecosystems within and around the kiwifruit industry. I would like to see our learnings shared with our wider agricultural and horticultural sectors. My focus is using technology and research to lead with ideas that will help us reach our goals of sustainable production for the generations to come.
One policy change I would like to see: an increase in ministerial positions that reflect the size and diversity of the New Zealand’s primary industries.
If I could choose one superpower: to return all the eroded topsoil from where it was lost.
