Danielle du Plooy

Hi there!

I am a lover of sunshine, an enthusiast of alternative and regenerative food networks and an advocate for animal health and welfare. My passion and purpose lay within cultivating impactful socio-ecological relationships, while strengthening community resilience, through the promotion of alternative food networks and care for the more-than-human world in which we co-exist. I am a PhD candidate at the University of Otago and am currently fostering my passion through my research. With my own personal connection to place, relationship with the land, I have come to believe that through growing ethical, just and regenerative food we may heal the earth and in turn, heal ourselves.

One policy change Iā€™d like to see: government support a bill that recommends a higher percentage of food consumed by residents in Aotearoa come from Aotearoa.

If I could choose one superpower: to empower individuals to make values-based decisions from a place of deep trust and love for both ourselves and Mother Nature.
