Layla Christison

Tēnā koe,

My name is Layla and I currently work as a food environments researcher in the sunny and plentiful Te Matau-a-Māui. I have recently completed a Bachelor of Health Science with the University of Auckland. My specialisation within my degree pertains to healthcare development at the system level, mitigating the structural / social determinants of health, and developing equitable health policy. I am passionate about the inclusion of mātauranga Māori in our policy and food production environments and creating sustainable models of production.

One policy change I’d like to see: central and local government investment in sustainable agricultural and horticultural models with a focus on building food sovereignty and local distribution systems.

If I could choose one superpower: teleportation, no carbon emissions needed!
