Sonia Hollands
Hello!
I’m Sonia and have lapped the sun 28 times. I have been involved in agriculture from a young age, growing up on a small dairy farm near the Kaimai Ranges. I completed a BAgSci (Agricultural Science) from Lincoln University in 2018 and a MAgriBus (Agribusiness) from Massey University in 2023, which focused on one of the three elements of resilience: adaptive capacity. It explored how an East Coast Hill Country sheep and beef farmer adapts their farm system to cope with a changing climate. I am currently pursuing shepherding to continue my passion for animals and my love of the land.
One policy change I’d like to see: an adaptive and transformative approach to policy, which would enable strategic thinking to play an important part in policy planning.
If I could choose one superpower: to be able to change the weather to reduce uncertainty in farming environments!
